Rushcliffe Borough Councillor Barrie Cooper is pictured with local resident Davinder Virdi, who has been selected to be the Conservative candidate for the local elections in May 2019, taking over from Barrie who is standing down at the elections. Davinder lives in Gamston with his wife and three children, and has extensive experience in business as well as working with local community groups. Davinder has told us how he feels about being selected to run to be the new local councillor "I am excited about my selection to stand for Gamston South, I hope to deploy my knowledge and experience to maintain the high standards of services we have and deserve in Gamston South.'
County Councillor Jonathan Wheeler has paid tribute to Barrie for his service to the area: 'Barrie has worked tirelessly for residents in Gamston while he has been a Councillor and I have been proud to work with him on many issues, such as resolving the Open Spaces dispute, and I know he will continue to work hard up until election. Having met Davinder and listened to what he wants to do for the area, I know he would make a great Councillor and successor to Barrie.
