Conservatives in West Bridgford have picked three candidates to contest next year's Nottinghamshire County Council elections.
Mike Watkinson will contest West Bridgford North, formed from Lady Bay, Trent Bridge, Central Avenue and homes around Abbey Park.
He has worked for a number of key emergency services including the ambulance service and NHS hospitals, and last year stood as the candidate in Trent Bridge, just missing out on being elected.
Sitting County Councillor Gordon Wheeler will be the Conservative choice for West Bridgford West which includes Compton Acres, Lutterell and roads West of Musters road in Musters Ward.
Gordon is currently a Governor at West Bridgford Academy and is also Chair of the Compton Acres Local Area Group which brings together councillors, police and local residents to discuss issues of concern.
Rushcliffe Borough Councillor Jonathan Wheeler will run in West Bridgford South, created from Edwalton and parts of Gamston, Musters and Abbey wards.
A General Manager for a national cinema chain, Jonathan was first elected to represent Gamston in 2014 and has campaigned on improving the environment and green spaces as well as supporting community groups with better resources.
The trio all live in their respective wards and have been long-term West Bridgford residents.
The three new wards were created following a review of boundaries in Nottinghamshire by the Local Government Boundary Commission.
Rushcliffe Conservative Association Chairman, David Astill, said: "I am delighted that Rushcliffe residents have chosen Mike, Gordon and Jonathan to contest these three new wards.
"They all are passionate about the community and will fight tooth and nail for the best deal for West Bridgford and improved services for local residents and hardworking families.
"The choice at next year's election will be either a Labour-led County Council which taxes high and offers little in return or a Conservative administration who always delivers for West Bridgford.
"It is the Conservatives who rebuilt West Bridgford Library, ensured the investment at Trent Bridge to boost local business and who are now revamping Rushcliffe Arena for people to enjoy."
