Conservative run Rushcliffe BC has called on MPs and East Midlands Mayor Claire Ward to work with partners and release funding for local highways improvement plans.
We passed a motion at Full Council meeting on Thursday (December 5) requesting the Mayor outline when she will be make further investment available to the upper tier authorities in the region, including Nottinghamshire County Council, for repairs to roads.
Whilst RBC is not responsible for highways in the Borough, the motion was brought before the meeting given the importance so many residents place on the local road infrastructure.
Our Leader Council Cllr Neil Clarke, also Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment for Highways at the County Council said: “RBC passed the motion asking the Mayor, MPs and County Council to work together and source more funding urgently.
“We’re aware of just how much a lack of investment from regional and central government could further affect residents who use Rushcliffe’s and Nottinghamshire’s roads.”
