Cyber Security Campaign
Ruth Edwards is a former member of BT’s cyber security team and as Rushcliffe’s Member of Parliament she wants to use her background to help residents and businesses across the constituency so they can stay safe whilst they are online. During lockdown we have seen a significant increase in online activity so that people can continue to order essentials, such as food and prescriptions, as well as to keeping in touch with friends and family using online apps.
Next week we are launching the theme ‘Protect Your Business’ as part of the campaign. We have quite a few members in the local party who are involved in, or own businesses, and who may be interested in a Cyber Security Conference Ruth is hosting on Friday 19th June 2020 - 2pm – 3pm in partnership with the Federation of Small Business. The event will be conducted virtually and will include an expert panel including: Michala Hart (Director of BT Security Team), Kirsty Jackson PCC (Nottinghamshire Police – Cyber Protect and Prevent Officer), Michael Weedon (Federation of Small Business) and of course Ruth Edwards MP (Member of Parliament for Rushcliffe). The event will allow attendees to listen to the experts and ask questions to help gain a greater understanding of the threats that businesses face from cyber-attacks.
