We are very saddened to hear the news that HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh passed away peacefully at Windsor Castle earlier today, aged 99.

Our sincerest condolences and warm wishes go out to Her Majesty the Queen and all the Royal family at this incredibly sad time.

Prince Philip’s long distinguished service to this nation and devoted support to The Queen throughout 73 years of marriage is beyond dispute.

As a mark of respect, we have immediately suspended election campaigning in line with guidance from Conservative Party Headquarters, during this period of national mourning. This includes the County Council elections, the Police and Crime Commissioner elections and the Borough Council Sutton Bonington by-election.
