Despite huge housing pressures across the Borough, we are delighted your local Councillors have managed to ensure Edwalton Golf Course remains a Community facility.
Rushcliffe Borough Council was obliged under law to assess the site for housing. Your local Councillors argued that the Course was a vital Community Facility, not only for golfers but for many residents who use the course for exercise and community activities.
Furthermore, the council is looking at additional investment in the complex with viability work underway looking at a state of the art Driving Range. It is also committed to looking at enhancements to the main course to make it more environmentally friendly and a rewilding project on the current Par 3 course.
Borough Councillor Simon Robinson has played a vital role in this boost for our community, and says:
“I am absolutely delighted we have managed to ensure Edwalton Course will continue to provide a key community facility for our residents. We have faced huge pressures to provide more housing, especially as Edwalton remains one of the most sort after areas in Nottinghamshire. We strongly argued that Edwalton had taken more than enough development and we need to ensure that we can provide the best community facilities possible. If playing Golf is not your cup of tea, have a cup of tea, or coffee and a cake at the Clubhouse, and enjoy a walk along the designated public footpaths across the course."
